Hiking at Taos
Get ready to have fun this summer
Northern New Mexico hiking is some of the most diverse you’ll find in the U.S. Our local trails go for miles, and can be as easy or difficult as you need them to be. Revel in the mountain scenery of the Sangre de Cristo’s, and conquer the highest mountain in New Mexico, Wheeler Peak. Explore desert canyons and go deep into the Rio Grande Gorge, 800 feet below the Taos Mesa, where you’ll see ancient petroglyphs carved into the rock walls. No matter where you choose to hike, you’ll be walking through a living history.
