Museums and Galleries at Taos

Get ready to have fun this summer

In the year 1893, two young art students were exploring the west when their wagon wheel broke just outside of Taos. By the time the wheel was fixed, they were mystified by the scenery of Taos and decided to settle down. In 1915, along with four of their friends, they founded the Taos Society of Artists. Today Taos remains a thriving community of artists; showcased by the plethora of galleries lining the streets. You’ll also find a rich variety of museums that feature Southwestern and Hispanic art, historic Spanish colonial buildings, and the homes of the cast of local legends who helped shape the course of Taos history.
