This document sets the standards that will define our brand’s visual language for the 17/18 winter season. We are going to sharpen our focus on showcasing the diversity of terrain, history, culture and revitalization. We have created a bold, modern design system and set of templates that help elevate these pillars. The goal is that consumers takeaway that Taos has more to offer than steep terrain. Steadfast and consistent use of the right images and templates will help us communicate the core essence of Taos.

PHOTO DIRECTION
ACTION

Action photography is used to inspire our customers and connect them to our brand. The critical element in these photos is showcasing the fun that happens on the mountain. The photos should only use one subject and should always be medium to tight shots so when used in a template they will be highly visible and showcase the challenging terrain and great conditions offered at Taos.

PHOTO DIRECTION
CULTURE

For this campaign we are looking for soulful storytelling photos that consumers will be able to connect with. Taos Ski Valley is an iconic destination and the use of cultural photos help establish the legitimacy of our brand’s unique history. Photos of native people will need to be vetted with the marketing team. Please do not over use this type of photo asset.

PHOTO DIRECTION
THE FACES

The people behind Taos are the reason we can all enjoy this magical place. When we feature them we make sure they are iconic and authentic. These aren’t models we have dressed in Taos attire, these are real individuals and we want that message to be transparent. The goal should be to capture them in action versus staging work for them to do.

PHOTO DIRECTION
THE BLAKE

Location. Amenities. Style. All three elements should be considered when using imagery of The Blake. It’s the centerpiece in the village so it’s presentation should make it feel like it’s in the perfect location and steps from the slopes. Ariel photography can capture the size of the hotel where the POV from the slopes can capture the proximity to the slopes well. The two-tone color of the side walls can be used as an identifier as well. The tight shots should reflect it’s culture and modern feel.

PHOTO DIRECTION
THE MOUNTAIN

Taos Ski Valley is home to some of the most iconic mountain ranges around the globe. Capturing and using shots of the mountain should highlight the diverse, challenging terrain as well as the snow fall and great conditions. The goal of these shots should be to make the mountain look heroic and beautiful.

PHOTO DIRECTION
THE MOMENTS

This direction will feature photos of our guests and their families as they enjoy all of the great things that Taos has to offer. These moments should be candid and real to the moment, never stagged or posed. We want viewers to put themselves in the shoes of our subjects and understand how great they would feel at Taos. Please consider using photos with more than one skier or snowboarder – we want viewers to get a sense of community with these types of photos.

PHOTO DIRECTION
THE AMENITIES

Taos is becoming a four-season resort and our communications should feature some of the great year-round amenities. These include shots of The Blake Hotel, ski school and other amenities offered by Taos.

COLOR PALETTE

There are 5 distinct colors that we have created to communicate the many offerings from our brand. These colors are built to supply contrast and a consistency communicating our brand to our customers. Please do not tint, make gradients or change the specified colors.

A paragraph (from the Greek paragraphos, "to write beside" or "written beside") is a self-contained unit of a discourse in writing dealing with a particular point or idea. A paragraph consists of one or more sentences. Though not required by the syntax of any language, paragraphs are usually an expected part of formal writing, used to organize longer prose.
