An Evening With Ski Pioneers
The story of Taos Ski Valley is a well-known one, often a topic of conversation on chairlift rides about Ernie Blake, and how he flew a Cessna 170 over Kachina Basin, spotting the location for his future ski area. Of course from there, the narrative of Taos Ski Valley spans over 60 years; turning into a collection of tales, often incorporating a whimsical cast of characters.
On Thursday, March 22, a handful of those characters will be gathering in the Taos Tent to reminisce the stories of old and honor the early days of Taos Ski Valley. Mickey Blake, Jean and Dadou Mayer, Rick Richards, and others will be featured on the panel, and the night will be emceed by Ski New Mexico Executive Director, George Brooks.
Story telling is an important part of any culture; especially when it has historical context. This event will preserve and share that history as these Taos legends tell the tales of the Taos Ski Valley of old. We invite you to join us on Thursday, March 22nd in the Taos Tent, located on Thunderbird Road, starting at 4:45 PM.
