Art, Architecture and Design
The Blake at Taos Ski Valley is a place where the currents of History, Culture and Art merge. Taos has been identified as the place where many roads end. The Santa Fe Trail, El Camino Real, the Northernmost of the 19 Pueblos, the Eastern border of the Navajo nomadic migration lands and the Western edge of the Plains tribes. These influences have forged a true melting pot of people and cultures. The broken wheel which led to the creation of the Taos Society of Artists and the subsequent residencies of Mabel Dodge Luhan, Georgia O’Keeffe and D.H. Lawrence eventually established Taos as a center of the international world of art.

Firstly, the staff is beyond reproach. They are stellar and establish a gold standard that others should seek to emulate. Levi in 192 where we dined Saturday night carried on the excellent stature of the staff. He expressed his good fortune and gratitude to be in such a position and environment as did everyone we conversed with. The entire staff we encountered displayed a sense of ownership, commitment and autonomy to make decisions on behalf the best interests of guests and the hotel. Such empowerment is a rare commodity but yields great benefits for all concerned. We are not skiers, but I am already planning at least one if not two more weekend trips to The Blake before the summer/early fall season is over.

The Blake
Infused by the diverse cultural mash-up that is Taos, unexpected curiosities are around each corner, balanced by thoughtful amenities that make each stay feel like a little tranquility is only natural. On a mountain that has welcomed and inspired adventure-seekers for more than 60 years, The Blake at Taos Ski Valley is simply refining the lodging experience. Based on the nature of spa services and the close-contact that is needed to perform them, we have decided to close the spa for the 2020-21 season.

We have a different approach to excellent hospitality than what you may have experienced before with bigger hotel chains. We believe that guests and employees at The Blake are equal and here for the same love of the outdoors and the mountains. We consider our guests part of our family and we will make sure you feel as welcomed and relaxed in our home as you do in yours. We will offer you our genuine, honest and heartfelt care and compassion and hope you do the same.

We’re excited about the new Blake Residences and construction for this project is making tremendous progress. Please be advised that there will be significant construction near The Blake through the fall.
The Blake and its amenities will not be affected, but guests at the hotel may experience noise and mild inconveniences due to area closures. We apologize for the disruption. Please let us know if there’s anything we can do to make your experience more pleasant during this time.
Refund Policy
We understand this is an uncertain time and committing to your next vacation is more complicated than it was before the COVID-19 pandemic. In an effort to alleviate concerns regarding cancellations caused by COVID-19 we have implemented changes to our cancellation policies as follows:
COVID-19 Illness
If you are required to cancel your reservation within the timeframe that we usually charge a cancellation fee due to a positive COVID-19 in your traveling party we will kindly request the positive test result and issue a refund.
COVID-19 Travel Ban/quarantine
If a travel ban is implemented, which restricts travel to or from your place of origin, within the timeframe when your reservation is non-refundable, and you will be unable to follow this restriction, we will request the updated government mandate for verification and are happy to issue a refund once verified.
COVID-19 Mandated Close
Any voluntary or mandated closure of Taos Ski Valley, due to an increased concern for public safety, triggered by a resurgence of the COVID-19 virus will result in a refund of room rate and applicable taxes and fees for reservations affected and within the dates of said closure. No documentation is necessary and you will be notified of the closure as soon as possible.
