All About Taos Ski Valley
Here, at the end of a box canyon surrounded by wilderness where the Rockies begin in the shadow of the iconic Kachina Peak is a place situated off the map of ordinary. A place that since its first lift was installed over 60 years ago has strived to stay true to its roots while growing better rather than bigger. Here we get a glimpse of the future, a ski area that is redefining what a year-round mountain resort can look like. A place that is independent, free-spirited, and intimate in scale. A place that is more home than destination, more retreat than resort, and the people that come here are more family than guests.
In June of 2018, Taos Ski Valley was awarded the Gold level recognition from Family Friendly New Mexico. Then in January of 2020, we went from Gold to Platinum. In February of 2021, we are proud that this is now our second year gaining Platinum recognition. Our family-friendly policies include paid health days staff can use for themselves as well as family concerns; paid volunteer time for staff to use their time serving our community, schools, non-profits, and religious organizations; and our hiring and compensation practices. We are currently partnering with Camber Outdoors to provide training and resources to our team members to increase our awareness of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Trainings like these influence our hiring and retention practices. We also participate in the National Ski Area Association compensation survey to ensure we are leading with industry standards and equal pay for equal work.
Our company values of Enjoy. Protect. Give. guide us in making decisions that contribute to our New Mexico families, and community health. This award is an important recognition of the work being done to keep New Mexico Families' well-being front and center.
