The TAOS Ski Valley Via Ferrata is your chance to experience the thrill of high alpine mountain climbing - no experience necessary. Donning a harness and helmet (equipment included), guests will be personally led by our Via Ferrata guide along a network of cables and climb pre-set routes of iron bars. Situated at 11,500 feet in the sub-alpine ecosystem of Kachina Peak, our guided tour offers beginner through advanced Via Ferrata route challenges, a 100-foot skybridge, and a double-cable catwalk. Guests can progress to vertical terrain with spectacular views of the Rio Hondo and Wheeler Peak Wilderness. New this summer, guests will also take an exhilarating UTV ride up the mountain to access our Via Ferrata climbing course.
Tours leave at 9AM and 1PM daily.
Guests are encouraged to reserve a spot 24 hours in advance and must complete a waiver prior to getting on the route. Guides will call guests the afternoon before a tour with more information and complete an on-mountain safety orientation prior to starting the tour.
Via Ferrata is a guided activity. Accessing Via Ferrata without a guide is strictly prohibited. Guests should follow the instruction of the guides at all times.

Due to construction on Lift 4, lift-served mountain biking will not be available at TAOS this summer. However, there are plenty of options for a thrilling and challenging day of uphill access mountain biking.
For uphill mountain biking, we recommend enlisting the help of one of our trusty e-bikes. Plus, if you're looking for a more relaxing day at the ski valley, e-bikes are a perfect way to explore. Start at Taos Sports and bike up the Rubezahl Trail to The Bavarian to enjoy a beverage and a bratwurst! Mountain bikes and e-bikes are available to rent at Taos Sports all summer!

HOW TO PROGRESS THROUGH THE TAOS BIKE PARK Intermediate Riders Only for Summer 23
The Taos Bike Park is built for progression! Here is how the Taos Bike Park crew recommends tackling the variety of trails:
Riders should be comfortable and confident on the previous trail before moving on.
Northern New Mexico hiking is some of the most diverse you’ll find in the U.S. Our local hiking trails go for miles, and can be as easy or difficult as you need them to be. Revel in the mountain scenery of the Sangre de Cristo’s, and conquer the highest mountain in New Mexico, Wheeler Peak. Explore desert canyons and go deep into the Rio Grande Gorge, 800 feet below the Taos Mesa, where you’ll see ancient petroglyphs carved into the rock walls. No matter where you choose to go hiking in Taos, you’ll be walking through a living history.
