Ski Magazine Calls Taos a Standout for a "Super El Niño" Winter
24 July 2026

Last winter ran short and dry for a lot of Western and Southwestern resorts, so the talk of an incoming "Super El Niño" has skiers paying close attention.
In a new roundup, SKI Magazine asked meteorologists and ski-travel experts where the odds look best this season, and Taos earns a spot on the list.
OpenSnow's Alan Smith says a snowy El Niño "could make this the year for Taos," and one travel expert calls it a hidden gem in the Southern Rockies, oozing with culture unlike anywhere else in North America. Forecasts are never a promise, but the Southwest is looking like one of the better bets this winter.
